yesterday...many roads are flooded. millions are without power and almost a dozen people in the u-s have died due to matthew. here's the latest out of north tonight, hurricane matthew is smashing north carolina... downgraded to a category 1 storm, it's still powerful enough to render hundreds of roads impassable. (nats) after leaving a trail of destruction on the florida coast... the storm took aim at rains and creating dangerous conditions... s/ gov. nikki haley / (r) south carolina:22 - :27 "any roads that have water, we them." (nats rescue) police in fayetteville rescued this mother and her child from high water. (nats baby crying) at least one person in that city unaccounted for due to flooding. hurricane matthew's winds were powerful enough to uproot trees... this one slicing through the home where krista solley was riding out the storm. "we got out safe. it was scary." more than a million could be days before it's safe for coastal residents to return home... s/ gov. nikki haley / (r) south situation and it is -- we are not out of the woods." the monster storm that has already ripped through four states... is

charleston. the carolinas are seeing a lot of flooding - similar to what iowa saw a few weeks ago. three peoe two people died in a submerged car. officials say the driver of the vehicle was able to escape... but two passengers didn't. another person was also killed when a car hydroplaned. and take a look at this -- police found a woman standing on the side of her car with her child in her coat. officers lowered a ramp on to the car and walked out to grab the mother and child. despite many warnings - people still were seen going out in the flooded streets.

funerals begin for some of the hundreds dead from hurricane matthew. they buried a man who was killed next to his three-year- old daughter. family members were overwhelmed with grief. and survivors are cleaning up- as 95 percent of crop lands were destroyed. officials saying action is needed. bags of rice stamped "u-s-a" were given to people running low on food. back here in iowa -- a man is accused of animal torture after a cat's ribs and hips are broken. po man, gibson neblett is accused of hurting the cat after the owner says he was the only one with it at the time of its injuries. he was released from the johnson county jail yesterday. police say thankfully, the cat will make a full recovery. after shooting a police officer - a man is found guilty of attempted murder. 19-year-old isaiah mothershed shot a sioux city police officer in the leg after being handcuffed. police were arresting him after he carried out multiple robberies and break-ins back in feburary.

to a combine fire last night. according to police -- it was in a soybean field when it happened.. firefighters responded and made sure the fire didn't grow any more. an eastern iowa hero who died during world war two -- is finally honored and laid to rest this week. kwwl's shirley descorbeth has that story.. (nats) it's a special memorial mass -- fit for a pearl harbor hero. nearly 200 hundred lucas, iowa. he died in 1941...along with 428 other crew members when the uss oklahoma was attacked. "he held back and helped others to escape the sinking ship." he helped save 12 of his identified father al's remains. and now -- 75-7ears after his death...family members and other military servicemen fill the pews to honor him...including his niece rose foley. "i can still see him driving in came out the car was the golf clubs. he just was something else." after praying for father al...he recieves full military honors. the american flag on his casket...folded...and given to his family.

someone opens fire near a police station this happened in jerusalem this morning. police say the shooter was shot and killed by police. at least two of the wounded - a police officer and a female pedestrian - are in critical condition. find explosives inside an apartment. investigators found several hundred grams of dangerous explosives. the 22-year-old suspect is on the run, but police say three people are being questioned. a teen armed with a chainsaw and an axe kills one woman and injures another in a shopping mall in eastern europe. police say the 17-year-old walked into the mall last night with a chainsaw in hand... and an axe inside a guitar case.

"were thankful for everything they're doing for us thank you" dozens of people are hurt- after a train hits another train near new york it this happened late last night. eleven people were taken to hospitals with injuriges ranging from broken bones to cuts. about 6 hundred people were on the train when it crashed. police in florida are searching for a missing four-year- old girl. an amber alert was issued for rebecca lewis last night. her grandmother is asking the public to help find her.. danger. thirty people are rescued after a boat capsizes.. this happened in san francisco yesterday. eight people, including a five- year old, were taken to a hospital. one person is listed in critical condition. an investigation into what caused the boat to capsize is underway. a raging fire spreads across carolina. the fire quickly spread to at least four other buildings. there are no reports of any injuries. it's unknown what caused the fire to begin in the first place. an airstrike by the saudi-led coalition kills at least one hundred- 40 people at a funeral hall packed with mourners. hundreds more were injured. ambulances were seen taking people from the scene. some in new york are trying to help the survivors of hurricane matthew in haiti. a bakery in brooklyn is

dollar. so i just took that one step further, whether it's frozen, fresh or canned. it stretches your dollar really well, but it also gets you closer to that 5 to 9. if you eat a produce item at breakfast, lunch and dinner, you're at 3. add one more to each of those meals and you're at 6. so just adding one is a much more simple, realistic way to look at it to get close to 9 servings a day. so here are some ways to add more produce to dishes you're already making. so adding to a salad is adding darker greens, spinach or kale, or adding one more fruit or veggie onto your salad. any kind of pasta, adding fresh tomatoes or canned tomatoes. canned tomatoes actually deliver more licopene than fresh tomatoes so if that's something you are looking for -- add in fresh or canned tomatoes. mashed potatoes i surprisingly have some cooked spinach in there. which, i know doesn't always look great if you don't like cooked spinach, but you can't even tell it's in there. and
